Guess Who Said, "Outlaw the Shadow Banking System!"

Obama and Prime Minister Gordon Brown have met to talk about the economic crisis at hand that has happened and that the cause of this economic crisis is the shadow banking system. By the way Shadow Banking is a really bad way of banking, for example Shadow banking institutions are typically intermediaries between investors and borrowers. For example, "an institutional investor like a pension fund may be willing to lend money, while a corporation may be searching for funds to borrow. The shadow banking institution will channel funds from the investors to the corporation, profiting either from fees or from the difference in interest rates between what it pays the investors and what it receives from the borrower.By definition, shadow institutions do not accept deposits like a depository bank and therefore are not subject to the same regulations. Familiar examples of shadow institutions included Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers. Other complex legal entities comprising the system include hedge funds, SIVs, conduits, money funds, monolines, investment banks, and other non-bank financial institutions". I really hope that our country and the rest of the world can balance their check books.

The Power of Music: It's a real heart opener

Dr. Mike Miller who is in this picture in the article is photographed Rocking out at the University OF MaryLand because he is researching the power music has. He already knows that laughter, who has also been studying the effects of Happiness on the heart and wanted to test the theory of music. He stated that the set up was basically the same as laughter, and that music de-stresses. I find this very interesting because I have always knew that music brings down stress and opens blood vessels which makes it easier for blood to circulate easier, but Dr. Mike Miller has just proved that music is very powerful and help the heart. Also it produces chemicals that protective to the heart, so music is good for you=), everyone should play good music and be happy haha.

Miss California USA to keep Title

Despite the controversy that the Miss California Pageant had over her Semi-nude photos, she is able to keep her title. Despite that she has stated her opposition to Same-Sex marriage. Although I am for Gay marriage, I feel that she did excercise her 1st Amendment by expressing her freedom of speech, but I don't understand why she would say it in front of the world publicly, but despite that she was excercising her First Amendment speech and shouldn't have been disqualified in the beginning. I am glad that she was given back the title. What I do not understand though, is why is she re-instated despite her nude photos..I thought she was setting an example for the girls all over the country.this is something I want to explore more.

U.S. Raises Terrorism Alert From Canada

The United States wants to take measures to block the influx of terrorists by taking tough measures along the Canada Border, which are similar to those in the southern Borders such as; Mexico to Texas and Mexico to California. Also people who have grown up in Canada near the Border have never considered the United States to be a border, but more as Neighbors..who said, "we are neighbors, not terrorists". I understand that there is a lot going on right now with the Swine Flu, but the United States has dealt with the drug Cartels in Mexico, and I do not understand why the United States would treat Canada that way, when some residents come to show a few times a day in America, but now they are not neighbors anymore... also, "The US security authorities fear that terrorists possibly exploit the relative calm along the US-Canada border, the longest around the world and infiltrate the country to conduct terrorist attacks". Bureaucracy At Its Finest-2009

This article talks about how Earnest Hammond who was a retired truck driver was not able to receive his full benefits that went to aid property owners After Hurricane Katrina and Rita. He failed to qualify for one federal aid, but he was able to get a trailer to live in for the time being, while he carried out his own recovery plan. the aftermaths of the storms, required money in aids to help the victims of about 4,000 who have only received the money in the past 6 months or so, and Hurricane Katrina and Rita happened during 2005. I find that a little insane that a lot of the victims have barely just received their Aid only within the past 6 months. a quote that one of the victims has said, is that the only time they have seen Fema workers, and thats where they come with a paper saying to them this month is there last.CLICK HERE FOR THIS ARTICLE

HCOM 310 On Blogs...ethics followed?

It has been a pretty good semester. I was able to study free speech and responsibility and how people were effected through out history for their basic right of the first Amendment. I was really shocked to know that people were treated differently during war time versus peace time, and that people could be arrested for speaking their mind in war time. I also noticed that the first amendment is always tested, if it offends or provokes. I also found it quite interesting that a lot of the blogs I have read this semester, did not follow the web Blob ethics because some people bashed other people's space, and some people even went out of their way to go online and bash other people, but that is fine. I am glad that I learned good web blog ethics.

GO to prom, get expelled

at a fundamentalist baptist school that forbids dancing rock and roll, hand-holding and kissing will be suspended if he takes his girlfriend to the public school prom. The principal also said, that he goes to the dance he will get incompletes for his assignment I found this quite a little insane because I understand that a signature needs to be obtained for guest to attend dances, but I do not understand how a school can suspend someone for going to there prom and on top of that the principal would want to give the student an incomplete. check out this article and tell me what you think.CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE

MOTHER ACT

Yet another bill being rolled into the house without being out in the open and instead, talking about the flu epidemic which way more important but what about the fact that this epidemic has been going on for more then a week now its main stream. Anyways this mother act basically works this way. When the mothers go to the hospital to get their new born, they are subjected to multiple tests; depending on the what their scores may be the mothers will not be able to take their child home unless they are willing to be put on medications. I understand that their has been a lot of mothers that have very un-fit mothers, but I still believe in choice. Women should be able to make their own choice and this bill obviously violates a constitutional right to privacy and right to liberty. Yet, this is going to be an on going struggle for the Obama Administration, but then Obama doesn't have the power. He is just the guy with the strings attached, he is pulling anything, the people in the white house are. Anyways I hope you check out this article

Washington to Give Pakistan $3 Billion for Military Equipment

I read this article and felt that it was necessary to post a blog about this. I was shocked that the NSA(National Security Agency) was still carrying out their spying operations on Americans and the renewal of spying started up again after the Inauguration of Barack Obama, that unfortunately does not surprise me, and on top of this mess there are tons of lawsuits that have been filed to the Justice department, in which they are trying to squash. One of the funny things that I have read in this article, is that the Obama Administration has that the NSA's criminal activities are so secret, that not even a judge could review them...well this really made me wonder, how secret is the NSA to a point where the judge can not even review them. As for the 3 billion dollars..just look up the stimulus bill, the money has already been put together in a big package. Also Obama will continue to follow some of the spying policies enacted under Bush's term.

H.R. 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009

I have found some disturbing news that is obviously not been out in the media but its has already been passed February 4, 2009, so nothing can be done. I know it is crazy to say this, but I have been saying our country is going to shit since I was 12 and thats pretty sad that I can not have a lot of confidence. Despite my rambling..basically this bill controls food in this country. For example, if your family owned a organic farm out somewhere and it was their own private business that is similar to Earth Bound Farm(which is how it started out before it became huge), is now illegal because our country cares about all of us and would not want us to be sick, and they want us to be protected because in the past years customers have lost confidence because there have been some incidents that have occurred because some organic stores have food from other countries like Trader Joe's does, but thats weird because I have been eating organics for as long as I can remember and never have I become sick from it. I have actually become sick from crap from Sav-Mart because it is packed with non-organic produce and its hard to get away from the partially Hydrogenated Soy Bean oil, and endless corn syrup in all of there products which I have puking from, along with Monosodium glutamate...gross. I just find it disturbing of this bill I can not believe it is actually happening now. I love going to my farmers market and getting fresh squeezed pomogranite Juice, but only time will tell for how ridicolous this bill will be.. I could not read the whole bill too much, but read some of this. It will make you freaked out haha, fact also is that Joseph Stalin did a similar thing with controlling the food supply..google it..research it, it's there. Also Monsanto will be regulating even more harsh then before as it has been seen the in the movie Future of Food.

Clinton: U.S. to Blame for Mexico's Drug Violence

During a two day trip, Clinton has acknowledged that the United States had a role in Mexico's drug war and spoke to president Felipe Calderon, in which new plans for added border security were discussed. What is interesting about Clinton's visit in Mexico, is that now there are plans for spending money in order to modernize border security which is $725 million dollars, then an additional $80 million to help Mexico purchase Black Hawk helicopters. I find this a little disturbing, that so much money has to be spent especially to buy helicopters and I am not really sure if this is going to really help anything. I also am not sure where the money is coming from because last time I checked the Obama administration claimed they were all about Transparency because I have not heard of where this money is coming from because the congress has not approved it yet. I really hope that everything works out.

California may tax weed to save economy

I find it quite interesting that California has decided to leak this out because California has been making billions alone on medical marijuana, so if California decided to tax marijuana and legalize it they would make more then tobacco companies. I find it quite interesting that the Obama administration would not allow for the legalization of Marijuana to go into affect, but its good that California has already in the process and has declared their Sovereignty(becoming an independent nation)making it easy if they wanted to separate from the USA. anyways California has made a good idea, I mean I feel that it is a whole hell of a lot better then cigarettes millions of times over. in the article Calvina fay has said that our society needs to be saved from drugs, but if that is the case and correct me if I am wrong, but isn't our pharmaceutical overall a Fraud anyways and drinking alcohol is legal and smoking cigarettes are legal despite rising numbers of DUI's, lung cancer, and many other diseases that arise from what our government considers legal. I mean yes Marijuana in heavy doses could spark a lazy society maybe, but if it was legal at least people could have the option to buy marijuana if they wanted to right? yes, if cig are way worse and alcohol is, I really just don't understand why the government would not give people at least a chance to decide

I found this article very interesting mainly because I found it through an iranian news CNN perspective and it definitely caught my eye. Iran sees the United States as a lost power in the global world. There has been years of struggle in the United States with Iran and to the iranians, "negotiation is secondary", and they feel that the United States will not change, but the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has demanded an apology from the United states for the accused crimes against Iran and that he really expected change from Obama. The new Obama adminstration has also refused to" rule out any options -- including military strikes -- to stop Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon". I feel for Barack Obama because he has a lot of garbage to clean up from the Bush adminstration and Barack has a very hard road ahead of him, George Bush really did not paint a pretty picture of the US as a whole because it seems to me that we are not going to be the super power the United States once was, but only time will tell. I can also comend Barack Obama for making an effort because it takes a lot of balls to admit failure and if our country is going to make peace with the world substantial work needs to be done. I feel that in time the United States will rebound, but I really feel that the United States will never be a number one powerhouse in the global economy for years to come, but I am sure it will get better and that is why the United States has to go a completely new direction in Leadership in order to hopefully prevail again. There is also a video that I have posted about what the president of Iran has said. I am so excited this is my second post, anyways whoever reads this give me a honest feed back. Also pay attention to Jimmy Carters comments on Iran, very interesting.

FDA SHOULD REVIEW SPLENDA

I find it quite sickening that the FDA has not done very much on this issue as well as on Aspartame. Consumers go through a lot of artificial sweetners when in fact the FDA has done the most amazing thing recently which is, that they have approved Stevia, which is a natural sweetner. If I was diabetic I would rather take my chances on natural sweetners as Stevia is a natural sweetner from plants in South America, but splenda is a bunch of chemicals. so what I question about the FDA is, if there is a lot of complaints about splenda and Aspartame, why aren't they doing anything about it? last time I checked the food and drug adminstration is suppose to protect consumers and not harm us. There has been many that have expressed their concerns about splenda and the sickness that they get from it, and yet it shocks me that the FDA has done nothing about this on going issue. at the same time I am not trying to scare any one of those who consume artifical sweetners and maybe you probably do, and you know who you are. I am not saying that from the first time of using artifical sweetners you will get cancer, but there are many people out there who drink a lot of soda with aspartame and consume exceeded amounts of splenda in their coffee and kool aid, and it is even in crystal light. yes I know it is delicious, but the concern is when consumers take too much of it and this is America, so it is a concern because people over do it, so I want to hear some feed backs tell me what you think.
